On 7 December 2025, we\u2019ll be running an activity that I find absolutely fascinating: a Nature Journaling workshop. I think this activity is the perfect combination of science, art and mindfulness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was aimed at all age groups, so both children and adults enjoyed it. We began with some warm-up exercises that allowed us to practise drawing whilst having fun. We then learnt other techniques that helped to develop our concentration, curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personally, I have to say that I spent my childhood and teenage years drawing. For reasons to do with \u00abgrowing up\u00bb, I stopped doing it, but I took it up again a few years ago with more enthusiasm and passion than ever. What I like most about these workshops is the sense of freedom they create. Here, it\u2019s not about drawing well or the end result of a drawing, but about who you were whilst you were drawing it. How you felt, how you were feeling, what inspired you to pick up a pencil and start drawing. As children, we\u2019re very quickly labelled as \u00abyou\u2019re so good at drawing\u00bb or \u00abdrawing isn\u2019t your thing\u00bb, but the truth is that anyone can draw. It\u2019s a question of wanting to, learning a few techniques and, above all, enjoying the process without trying to create a \u00abwork of art\u00bb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fact that this activity takes place in the great outdoors makes the experience even more enriching. We enjoyed the smell of damp earth, the feel of oak leaves beneath our feet, and listening to the robin and the chaffinch whilst we drew. These are the moments that enrich our lives. Don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An experience I would highly recommend to everyone, whether you can draw or not. The workshop fosters and creates a relaxed atmosphere where what matters isn\u2019t the end result but the process \u2013 the pleasure of stopping to observe nature. I came away with a real sense of having slowed down and thoroughly enjoyed the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
